Task

Create a digital agricultural insurance platform that covers the full cycle, from registration and field marking to signing a contract, payment and computerized payments; integration with state registries and elimination of manual labor at all stages.

Result

A cross-cutting digital platform for agricultural insurance has been created, from registration to computer-aided payment, without paperwork. Own mapping module for marking fields and accurate accounting of the crops area was developed. 6 integrations with state systems of Kazakhstan were implemented: data are checked by default. Recording of insured events and calculation of payments without the participation of the manager are computerized. Satellite yield analytics are connected for the fair monitoring and risk calculation. The platform was highly appreciated by the President of Kazakhstan and has been available to farmers since March, 2026

How we partnered with Freedom Insurance to transform agricultural insurance from a complex process into a digital service that every farmer can understand.

Agribusiness in Kazakhstan is a long-term endeavor fraught with countless risks.

Here, farmers do everything in their power: they select the best seeds, adopt modern technologies, and monitor methods and schedule of irrigation. However, there are always factors in this formula that cannot be fully controlled. Obviously, it’s a climate: extreme drought, sudden frosts, or abnormal precipitation can change the entire season.

However, other factors also affect the harvest:

  • Pests and diseases that can destroy part of the crops.
  • Seed quality and their proper storage.
  • The use of fertilizers and agrotechnical methods on which the growth and fruiting of plants depends.
  • Irrigation system efficiency and compliance with irrigation schedules.
  • State-of-the-art crop processing and storage procedures that mitigate losses.

In such conditions, insurance is not just a formal approach, but rather a financial basis that allows you not making a fresh start after a changeable season.

For a long time, that process remained complex and labor-intensive; so our task together with Freedom Insurance was to create a new product.

We have translated agricultural insurance into the language of numbers and technology while making it fast, transparent and affordable. No unnecessary pauses and paperwork: only reliable income protection that works in tandem with the rhythm of your business.

Implementation: How we did it

We built a single digital circuit where each stage of the team's work brought us closer to creating a transparent ecosystem

1. Reality-based UX/UI design

Our team has developed a system where each screen is tailored to the actual field tasks of farmers. Each interface element is thought out in terms of convenience and speed of work on the field: from selecting a site to checking data and signing documents.

2. Registration and login

Work with the platform starts with log in through the EDS.

3. Work with fields and map

To accurately calculate the insurance payments, we have developed our own mapping module. It is integrated directly into the platform interface, therefore, in the "Cadastres/Fields" section, the farmer at once observes his/her plots and can manage them without involving professionals.

The module interface is tailored specifically to agricultural insurance tasks. The user can now:

  • work strictly within the boundaries of his/her cadastral plot;
  • mark and edit fields by him/herself;
  • eliminate non-agricultural areas and specify the actual area of crops.

As a result, the insurance premium is calculated only for the area that is actually sown. Based on this markup, the system itself generates a ready-made insurance application, without manual data entry and unnecessary checks.

4. Making request and contract management

After selecting the fields, the farmer shall make a request, which shall be checked by the system by default and shall be proposed for signing through the EDS. On its basis, an insurance contract shall be generated; the system shall generate an invoice, and after payment is made, the contract shall be assigned an active status by default.

The platform allows the farmer fully managing his/her contract online: from entering into and making payment to termination or cancellation.

One of the key platform elements is a fully computerized insurance payment process. After the end of the agricultural season, the platform receives the final data on the forecast yield. This data shall be loaded into the system and analyzed by default.

5. How does the fixing of the insured event and payments work

If the predicted yield for the insured field decreases below 80%, the platform shall:

  • record the occurrence of an insured event by default;
  • check the contract validity;
  • calculate payout based on area, culture and coverage level.

When an insured event occurs, the platform shall confirm payment by default, and the farmer shall receive notifications in his/her personal account, by SMS and e-mail. The payment shall be remitted according directly to the farmer's bank details.

Integrations and analytics

To eliminate the human factor, we set up data exchange with key state systems in Kazakhstan:

ГБД ЮЛ: Legal Entities State database;

ГБД ФЛ: Individuals State Database used for instant user data verification;

БМГ: a mobile citizens database confirming the assignment of a mobile phone number to the user's IIN;

ЕГКН: Unified State Real Estate Cadastre. Through integration with Smart Bridge, the platform shall receive details regarding the user's cadastral areas;

ЕСБД: Unified insurance database to which data is transferred and insurance contracts are registered by default.

Sen4CAP map animation

We applied an analytical model developed by partners to monitor the fields of farmers and verify if the stated crops are correct or not.

Yield Analytics: Through its integration with Praedictus, the platform shall match forecast and historical yields, and review weather data. Based on this data, the system shall detect signs of an insured event and notifies the farmer of the occurrence of an insured event.

Monitoring data: the system shall receive information from services (including Sen4CAP), and the underwriting module shall allow evaluating the risks and calculating insurance premiums accurately based on the type of crops and sowing dates.

Freedom Agro is not just a platform, but rather a digital ecosystem that relieves farmers of insurance stress. There is one interface and a minimum number of paper transactions.
